District Services

The tax dollars each family pays to their local school district benefit your children and Mater Christi School in many ways. The following services are provided at no additional cost to families.

Services

Transportation

In Albany, CDTA transportation is provided, at no cost, to students who live at least 1.5 miles from school.  Students in grades K-6 are eligible for a yellow school bus.  Students in grades 7 and 8 are given a swiper card and are able to ride the CDTA bus.  For out of district students, transportation is provided from your home school district free of charge.  Individual transportation forms are distributed to students in early March.  There is a very strict deadline of April 1st for transportation requests.

Textbooks

Textbooks are reviewed and updated frequently to meet current curriculum guidelines and the needs of our students.  Textbooks are provided by individual school districts free of charge.  Textbook forms are sent home with students to be returned by June 1st.

Nursing Services

The Albany City School District provides a nurse to Mater Christi School every afternoon from Monday - Friday.  The school nurse is always available by phone and can easily travel from another school to Mater Christi should the need arise.  Office staff is trained in CPR and First Aid to care for students in the nurse’s absence.

Federal and State Funding

Mater Christi School also receives federal and state funds and services totaling about $60,000 a year, including funding for:

  • Library books and audio-visual materials

  • Computer software

  • Technology hardware

  • Title I tutoring
